Things That Keep You From Getting A Good Night’s Rest
Most people enjoy waking up well rested, but for many getting to sleep is a difficult process. There are many things that are keeping people up at night. These five things are very common issues that people run into that keeps them from getting good sleep.
One of the most common reasons is having a sleep schedule that is too random for the body to adapt to. If you work nights then days, you will have a hard time having a normal sleeping cycle. For those who have weekends off, sleeping in late into the day on Saturday and Sunday can actually hurt the ability to sleep during the week. Going to bed and waking up at fairly regular hours will help the most.
You may not realize it but at night your body will heat up under the covers. At times you wake up during the night because your body is too warm. Try being slightly cool when you first go to bed. Through the night you will heat up your mattress and pillow and stay warm and not wake up.
Sometimes the bedding or mattress is uncomfortable. Many aren’t aware of the tossing and turning during the night because you aren’t conscious of it. Consider getting more comfortable bedding and a mattress to help with this.
Stress is one of the biggest reasons people don’t get good sleep. Try to relax before bed. When in bed and having difficulty falling asleep, don’t worry about it so much. The more you think about not getting sleep, the harder it is to get sleep. If you are just laying there, get up and try to go to bed later.
For some the lack of sleep is a medical issue. There are hundreds of different reasons that someone could medically not be able to sleep. Consider asking your doctor about your sleep issues to make sure that it’s not a bigger problem that you might actually be having.
