3 Tips For Weight Loss Success

Weight loss success is probably an impossible dream for many people, the reason being is that they go from one fad diet to another and although they may have some initial success they normally end out putting their weight back on and possibly gaining a few pounds extra too. The reason behind this is that quite often the weight has been lost quickly and is not sustainable long term because the body ends out either craving foods that it is being deprived of or thinks it is being starved and therefore starts storing fat instead.

Personally I think its time that we came back to basics and thought about how our body’s are meant to function and this way we will have more chance of not only achieving the goal of losing weight but also keeping it off; after all our ancestors did not survive on diet shakes or appetite suppressants and they had nowhere near the levels of obesity that we have now, so bearing that in mind here are my 3 tips for weight loss success.

Firstly you need to set a realistic goal of the weight you want to be and also a realistic time frame to achieve that goal. To make this happen properly you need to not only weigh yourself before you start your weight loss journey but measure yourself too; then ideally you want to be losing either weight or inches every week (ideally 2lb’s or 2″). Some weeks you may seem to gain weight, but as long as you have lost inches that is fine as all it means is you have replaced fat with lean muscle tissue which is your objective.

Next you need to look at the food you are eating and what you are drinking. If you have a diet that consists of a lot of sugary drinks, processed foods and foods that are made from refined white flour then you need to cut them right back. The reason being is these foods are being burnt up for energy by your body instead of fat, and ultimately it means you store the fat and because these types of foods are burnt off quickly you end out craving more and a negative circle starts. Ideally you want to be eating natural carbs that are found in fruit and veg, protein from various sources and plenty of fiber. Also make sure you are drinking eight large glasses of water a day.

I am sorry but there is no avoiding it, you are going to have to exercise too. Our lifestyles today are very sedentary and we need to move more, the good news is though that you don’t have to take out expensive gym memberships to achieve this. Get of the house and do brisk walking or jogging, something to get that metabolism up and do it for about half an hour a day. If you do go to a gym make sure you start doing some weight training too as this will hugely increase your resting metabolism which means you will constantly be replacing fat with muscle tissue.

This is how our ancestors lived, they moved around and ate real foods, not processed pasta from the supermarket, and if losing weight is what you want to achieve perhaps you should try that too.
